A little bit on Windows Live Writer

August 13th, 2006 by Zack Whittaker

Some speculation went round on the t’Internet a few days ago about “some sort of tool letting you blog anywhere using this cool client”. Well, yeh it’s true. The guys on Liveside posted a few cool things that you should really check out: – Exclusive: Interview with J.J. Allaire, Architect for Windows Live Writer
Windows Live changes the way you write your blog

Anyway, a little about it. It’s a tool that was acquired by Microsoft some time ago, the Onfolio service, which attaches itself to the Windows Live Toolbar. However, as soon as it was acquired, it was ripped to pieces and made into this new client, the Windows Live Writer. It lets you blog on Live Spaces as well as other blogging services (the Liveside guys can use it to blog there, as we can here). To put you through the pain and agony of reading loads about it, here’s some screenshots demonstrating what it can do.

Oh it’s freaking sweet – view the Windows Live Writer blog and download the software now for free! Oh please note – it’s still in beta, and the performance isn’t great and there will be some updates to come, but so far, so good! πŸ™‚

By the way, this was a super-duper secret project – I’d say this is even cooler than Windows Live Spaces in itself πŸ˜€ So secret, rumours only started flying round the web yesterday or the day before – even I didn’t know about it!

The Windows Live Writer folks did a nice job. Also check out RocketPost, It’s more advanced than Writer, and there’s a free version. (I designed it.)
