Contest: Develop Without Borders, by Microsoft Office System

July 7th, 2006 by Jabez Gan [MVP]

Microsoft Office System Platform team has just launched a new cool contest where developers will need to design Office business applications that support non-profit organizations and encourages them to learn more about the 2007 Microsoft Office System at the same time.

The contest is called Develop without Borders.  It was developed as a joint effort between IW and DPE with support from HP and offers over $150,000 in prizes

The concept is simple:  Developers choose a charitable organization that they would like to help, understand the business challenges that it faces, and propose a solution based on the 2007 Office system that addresses one or more of those challenges.  The solutions that make the most impact on the organization and that best utilize the Office system technologies can win up to $50,000 to help pilot or implement the solution.
Prizes: Hardware and Software. Service contracts. PR galore. When you score, your charity scores, too.

Sample Projects and Charities: Get inspired to make a solution with impact. Find a cause you care about.

Office Business Applications: Learn more about the platform capabilities of the 2007 Microsoft Office system.

I think competitions like this are great, win win situation. I hope everyone gets involved, I wish my school would get involved in this, like a class project or something….would be great. Anyway thanks for the heads up 🙂

    Hi everybody!

Can the open source software movement defeat (or severely cripple) Microsoft in the marketplace? Thank you 🙂
