MSBLOG Exclusive: Windows Live Messenger .689 released

That’s right, after the leaked build of .683_(Branches) was leaked from the Middle East early last month.
Please note, this isn’t a public release yet, so if you wish to download it but don’t have access to a beta invitation or the beta section of Connect, you won’t be able to login. Check the end of this post for a link to submit a comment to apply for an invitation.
In this build, it’s also from the Branches section of the beta development path, but we get to see a much improved interface being the final user interface, as well as many improvements for some of the features. We’ll have screenshots as soon as possible!
We get to see:
- Colour scheme and final user interface improvements
- The ability to save space by only having ” says:” when a new person talks
- Brand new sounds for signing in, alerts, new email messages etc.
- Live Contacts integration, and better Spaces support
- Windows Live Call – the ability to call other countries and users at very cheap rates
- Develop your own add-ins and applications for Messenger
The minimum requirements are as follows:
- Pentium 233 MHz process (500 MHz recommended)
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Minimum 128 MB of RAM (256 MB recommended)
- Up to 50 MB of hard disk space for installation, 15 MB to run the program.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 SP1 or later must be installed on your computer, though it does not need to be your default.
- Minimum 800 x 600 screen resolution
