Dave Massy announced on his blog today that the Express version of Visual Studio 2005 will be free forever! It started as a promotion but now they decided to keep it free!

That wasn’t hard to guess. Who would buy it after it had been free for a year?
Besides, there are lots of free, open-source development tools… To compete with them, they had to have a free development tool.
