Windows Live secrets?

April 10th, 2006 by Zack Whittaker

Not sure how secret this site is, but it’s got a rather strange file extension which indicates it’s run on the back of IIS 6 with the .NET Framework 2.0. It’s found here:

http://www.live.com/startservice/startservice.asmx (doesn’t always work by the way)

It shows a list of available commands and systems which are available on the domain. There’s loads of stuff there, commands and otherwise, so any developer or nosey git, go and have a look – you even have the option of invoking the command to see what it does 😀

Also, http://labs.live.com is the new subdomain offering information about the Windows Live Labs, which is a partnership between the Windows Live teams and Microsoft Research, with loads of links and information about what they do.

Not to mention, http://shopping.live.com says that it’s “Coming soon” but if you check the source of the page, you see in the meta-tags “Shopping the way you want it. The best selection and prices around.” So could this be the new Microsoft version of Amazon or Froogle? We’ll have to wait and see… a little bird tells me that Windows Live Shopping will be available at the end of May or the start of June… 🙂
