Google To Offer Custom Email Domains

February 14th, 2006 by Joseph Bittman MCSD .Net

Google has decided to offer custom hosted email solutions which have your own @yourcompanyname.com domain. Google will offer 2 GB of storage, aliases, mailing lists, and a control panel for user accounts. The beta is currently open to businesses and schools.

It appears this is in response to Microsoft’s Live email service for custom domain 20 – 250 MB email accounts with virus filtering and other features.

(See http://ideas.live.com under “Windows Live Custom Domains”) Also, read Google’s privacy policy very closely, they have had some “questionable” practices here lately — will make a post on that in a little bit. -PatrickE
