Linux vs Windows – let the games begin!

February 6th, 2006 by André Nogueira

So far Linux has always been viewed as a “programmer’s only” operating system, and that’s pretty much what it is. Not being exactly simple to install and configure, most people don’t even try it and prefer to stick with Windows.

But those times might be behind us. Novell has previewed Linux Desktop 10 a few days ago, and from what I’ve seen… Microsoft, beware!

It has most of the software people need to use, out of the box. OpenOffice, a music player, photo editing, desktop search features, a note taking application… and an awesome desktop manager!

You can view the videos and some pictures here. I’m sure you’ll be as awestruck as I was!

Novell says Linux Desktop 10 will be ready to compete with Windows. Whether it succeeds or not, one thing is for sure. With competition from Mac OS X and now from Linux, there is undoubtedly a winner – the final user!
